I am hope-hope-hoping that the nifty giveaway goodies will help! March 30th was the "soft opening" for Sex and Candy (and OMG isn't that just a ridiculous way to describing release day for an m/m erotic romance?). :) I say "soft opening" because the story is officially available on the publisher's website, but it won't be available on other distributors' sites (like Amazon or B&N) until next weekend. For now, though, Sex and Candy can be found here at JMS Books at a 20% discount!
Thinking up a blog post to go with a release day giveaway is a toughie for me, so I'm just going to chat a bit about how the story came into existence.
I didn't set out to write a D/s story with a Dom or a sub or any of the other BDSM vibes in the story. Nope, not at all. The stories that I read don't typically fall into those themes, and I definitely hadn't written it before. Sex and Candy, though, is simply the organic product of the story that the characters needed me to write.
Lee is such a sweet guy, and he wanted/needed a firm hand. Without spilling exactly what happens, I'll just say that he finds it...in more ways than one. ;) The BDSM vibes are D/s-lite with an element of cute sweetness. Indeed, my super smexy author friend Kol Anderson said it was "sexy...incredibly sexy," so I hope you all like it. ;)
Sex and Candy is a short story, but there are a few things that show up in it that I'd like to share in the giveaway. Sooo...here's the fun stuff!
GIVEAWAY:
an ebook copy of Sex and Candy
And...for a US winner...a snail mail package of these goodies:
a pair of electric blue undies (unfortunately, hot guy not included)
a candy-colored gumdrop bead bracelet
a silver-colored metal "love" ring
HOW TO ENTER:
To enter the giveaway, please leave a comment with a means of contacting you (e.g., email, Twitter handle, Goodreads profile link, etc.) and, if you feel like sharing, let me know what your favorite type of candy is! :)
Contest closes at 10PM (Pacific time) on Monday, April 7, 2014. The winner will be chosen using a highly scientific internet randomizer (i.e., the 21st century's answer to "names in a hat") and should reply within 48 hours or else another winner will be chosen.
My favorite candy is licorice, either red or black, both have their good points. I always traded my siblings for their black jelly beans at Easter. I'm interested in what D/s lite reads like.
ReplyDeleteskadlec1@yahoo.com
Oooh, you could have my black jelly beans, too! When I was a kid I liked the bubblegum flavor.
DeleteD/s lite...I think it's one of those things where you'll know it when you read it. It's got Dom/sub-roled sexytimes, but not like...whips and chains stuff. :)
I have this book ordered so I'm not entering the comp but I thought I'd share my favourite sweets anyway! I love flying saucers, black jacks, chewy sweets.... in fact I love them all!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, Lorix! And wow...I love those fancy and exotic-sounding candies. Had to Google them to know what they look like. :) Chewy sweets are my favorite, too. Sour and chewy stuff, actually!
DeleteMy favorite candy... well... it's hard to pick! I'm a chocolate girl at heart, so I'd have to pick the Caramello bar. Now, on the off-chance I'm in the mood for something not chocolate... I'd have to go with Sweet-Tarts!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!!

Thanks for checking out the giveaway and book! :) Sweet-Tarts...my brother and I used to fight for those when we were kids.
DeleteMy favorite candy - em, I have to say chocolate :) in every form! I'm already eating way too many chocolate Easter eggs.
ReplyDeleteanke_gabriel at yahoo dot com
hahaha, Easter is a dangerous (or wonderful) time for us candy lovers. :) I really enjoy those little speckled candy robin eggs. Mmmm....
DeleteSince chocolate covered pretzels don't count as candy, I'd have to say my favorite candy is the Kit Kat bar.
ReplyDeleteOooh, Kit Kats are great - they're always popular at Halloween! :)
DeleteMy favorite kind of candies are handmade dark chocolate truflles, mmmmmmm yummy! ^_^
ReplyDeletepenumbrareads(at)gmail(dot)com
Handmade dark chocolate truffles - now that's the good life! :D
DeleteHaven't met a candy I do not luv!
ReplyDeletegisu09(at)gmail(dot)com
hahaha, love that! Gigi, the equal opportunity candy indulger! :)
DeleteFirst and foremost my favorite is chocolate, but chocolate is chocolate and not "candy" in my eyes. So my favorite candy is jelly beans. Thank goodness all the Easter candy is out on the shelves now!
ReplyDeleteEaster candy is dangerous! Just when the Valentine's Day candy is marked down on clearance, a whole new batch of pastel candies comes to replace 'em. :)
DeleteCongrats on the release, Nico. The best stories are the ones that are written how the characters want not the author, so I'm glad to hear that you listened to them. :-)
ReplyDeleteLike so many of the others I love chocolate, though I also adore old fashioned sour cherry balls.
Thank you for offering the chance to win, please count me in.
Pati JPM6966 (at) aol.com
Thanks, Pati! Yes, when the characters are making a fuss about things, sometimes it just makes sense to let them do their thing and hope it turns out for the best. :D
DeleteChocolate! Chocolate with almonds, yummy!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read Sex and Candy! Thanks for the giveaway! ...if only the sexy man was included; he really fills those undies out well!
Alaina
aegger.echo @ yahoo .com
hahahaa...if the sexy man were included, I might keep the undies for myself. ;) ;)
DeleteThanks for checking out the story and giveaway!
Peanut butter & chocolate (Buckeyes, Reece's - you name it!)
ReplyDeleteI have to ask, have you heard the song Sex & Candy? One of my favorites, so I love the title of this book.
jillw@att.net or the gmail account I've logged in as
The Marcy Playground song?? Absolutely! Love that song, and the refrain "I smell sex and....can-dy, yeeahh..." kept going through my head while writing the story. I just couldn't imagine calling it anything else. :)
DeleteMy friend made Buckeyes for me once, and they were fantastic. Nom nom.
Those are tasty! The mint M&Ms are my newest favorite type of M&M. :D
ReplyDeleteif it is still open please count me in.
ReplyDeleterojoroaors(at)yahoo(dot)com
Yup, still open until Monday! Thanks for checking it out. :)
DeleteCongrats on the release! My favorite candy is Reese Peanut Butter (what ever the holiday is shape.) Since it's easter the Reese cup is an egg. (valentines its a heart..blah blah) way more peanut butter in them.soooo creamy and delicious!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
raynman1979 at yahoo dot com
Thanks, Rissa! Yum, those holiday Reese's specials are always something to look out for. :)
DeleteCount me in too please? :) I have a huge sweet tooth, so I like all candy x) But my favorite is anything with peanut butter (Reese's Cup) or coconut! And Peeps marshmallows are my guilty pleasure. Link to GR profile-https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/29836931-aimee
ReplyDeleteOooh, Peeps! :D Those are fun, and it's always neat to see what shapes they'll come out with for each holiday.
DeleteCount me in please :) blu972 @ gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteYup, counted! Thanks for checking out the blog and book. :)
DeleteOh, my gosh, love all sorts of candies! Love Toblerone (White chocolate is yummy), Reece's Cups, Haribo gummies (right now the coke flavored), and red licorice. My mother loves the black licorice and when ever we would get jelly beans she would get all the black ones because she was the only one who liked them;)
ReplyDeleteLove your cover. I keep thinking I should order it but haven't because sooooo many books already in queue:( Soon as clear space this is in line to get:)
